Rui Chang, Ph.D.
Founder and CEO
Rui Chang, Ph.D., co-founder, received his Ph.D. in Computer Science specialized in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Cum Laude from one of the highest-ranked university
in Germany, Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2008. Dr. Chang completed postdoctoral training in computational systems biology at University of California, San Diego from 2008-
2011. In 2011, Dr. Chang joined the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NYC where he
developed novel computational systems biology algorithms to integrate large-scale multi-omics data of human diseases and identify therapeutic targets and novel drugs for cancer,
neurodegenerative diseases, and regenerative medicine. In 2018, Dr. Chang was invited to join the University of Arizona as the Associate Director of Computational Systems Biology at The
Center of Innovations in Brain Science (CIBS) and tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology. Dr. Chang is the principal investigator of multiple multi-million grants from the
National Institute of Aging (NIH/NIA), National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH/NINDS) and National Institute of Cancer (NCI) to identify therapeutic targets and novel
drugs for Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lewy body dementia and Melanoma. Dr. Chang serves as grant reviewer in the NIH study sections of Modeling and Analysis of
Biological Systems Study Section (MABS), Drug Repositioning and Combination Therapy for AD Study Section etc. Dr. Chang published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles with >1000
citations and filed over 10 international patents.
